Dryad collection: Handling Session
Event Description
An opportunity to explore the Dryad 'Handicrafts' collection
The Dryad 'Handicrafts' collection is a world collection of crafts gathered by Harry Peach of Leicester between 1918 and 1936.
It includes diverse crafts, such as basketry, textiles, wooden objects, leatherwork and beadwork, and all the objects were collected to understand craft techniques universally. The exhibition 'Dryad Basketry: A Global Collection' explores the circulation histories of some of these objects from various global and colonial contexts to Leicester.
Take the opportunity to learn more about the collection through a handling session at the museum store with the curator of the exhibition.
