Discover the story of this all-female band project.

Our ‘Unglamorous’ exhibition will run from November 2nd 2024 until February 2025, in the Leicester Stories Gallery at Leicester Museum and Gallery on New Walk. The exhibition tells the story of Ruth Miller and the women who came together to create something joyful and special.

The Unglamorous movement in Leicester began when Ruth Miller started all-female band The Verinos. The reaction to The Verinos was so positive Ruth realised there was a demand for all-women bands. She started the Unglamorous Music project to give women with no experience of music the chance to try out instruments and experience the joy of being in a band.
