View Leicester’s internationally important German Expressionism collection without the crowds with a weekend pre-opening tour.
The tour explores the extraordinary journey of these works from Nazi Germany to Leicester. It tells the story of the Hess family and of an enlightened attitude in Leicester towards modern art, during a critical period of British History.
The collection features artworks by renowned Expressionist artists including Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky, founders of the influential Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) group, as well as Gabriele Münter, Lyonel Feininger and Lotte Laserstein.
2024 is the 80th anniversary of the founding of Leicester’s German Expressionist Art collection.
Tour Dates:
Saturday 19 October 2024, 10 -11am
Saturday 23 November 2024, 10 -11am
Saturday 1 March 2025, 10 -11am
£15 person, 16 places available per tour.
Tour duration is one hour.
Visiting as a group? Why not book a private pre-opening tour from 10-11am and beat the crowds!
Pre-opening tours are £15 per person.
Daytime tours are £9 per person.
Group tours have a minimum group size of 15 and larger groups can be accommodated on request.
