Introduction to Linocut Printmaking with Gregory Millar
Event Description
Print your own linocuts on to paper by cutting your own plates or using some of Gregory's existing plates.
Throughout the session, Gregory will share his knowledge and experience of printmaking with you explaining his process to produce a linocut print. You will
- begin with a drawing or image
- trace the drawing or image with pencil onto tracing paper
- transfer the traced pencil image onto a vinyl linocut plate
- fix the image using a permanent pen on the linocut plate
- cut the areas on the linocut plate to remain white when printed
- ink up the cut linocut plate
- print the inked plate onto white paper.
About Your Tutor
Gregory Millar is an artist printmaker producing linocuts with strong figurative images. Gregory is a member of LSA, Leicester Print Workshop and the Society of Scottish Artists.
Part of a series of workshops by artists of the Leicester Society of Artists: Annual Exhibition at Newarke Houses, in partnership with Leicester Museums & Galleries.
