Sculpting as a Mode of Expression with Bob Wood
Event Description
An introduction to sculpting as a mode of expression through exercises using basic tools to work with modelling clay.
Introduction to highlight interplay between desire for expression; imagination of form; choice of material; interactions between intention and material behaviour during making; contrast between subjective and objective experiences of making and reviewing, respectively.
- Production of several simple 2D geometric shapes to gain practice of tools and material.
- Blind 3D working to focus on imagination and feel of material shape and texture.
- An automatic drawing exercise focused on an issue chosen by individual participant to provide the basis for creating a 3D sculpture. This will also emphasise that sculpture is part of a continuum of artistic expression.
- Production of a 3D sculpture following from, or inspired by, the automatic drawing exercise.
All materials will be supplied and are included in the ticket price and you will be able to take away your creation. Participants should be aged 18 or over.
