Leicester International Music Festival presents Lunchtime Concert: Asyla Oboe Quartet

Lunchtime Concert: Asyla Oboe Quartet

The Asyla Quartet is a chamber music group made up of some of the finest young oboists in the UK, consisting of Oboe, Oboe d'amore, Cor Anglais and Bass Oboe. The Quartet was formed in October 2020 at the Royal Academy of Music and, since then, the ensemble has created an impact in the classical music world with its diverse programming and unique instrumental set up.

Recently, the Quartet has performed at the North York Moors Chamber Music Festival and the Leeds International Concert Series. Oboist, Nicholas Daniel - Artistic Director of the Leicester International Music Festival, of course - is a big fan of this young ensemble: "It was a deeply impressive concert in every way. My first impression of their ensemble sound was so sheerly beautiful that I found myself very moved.”

Programme:

  • A Dales Lament: Ben Crick

  • Ave Verum Corpus: William Byrd

  • Queen of the Night Aria: W A Mozart

  • Fractal Light: Angela-Elizabeth Whittaker

  • Rievaulx: Althea Talbot-Howard

  • Whitworth Street West: Florence Anna Maunders

  • Passacaglia: Handel/Halvosan
