The members have a wide range of skills and interests, providing maintenance, restoration and conservation of the beam engines, road transport and narrow gauge railway collections.
A special events diary is developed and delivered by LMTA each year which includes narrow gauge railway days, children's events, vintage festivals, displays of steam toys and model railways. The association also provides a café for refreshments on special event days. During selected special events, the LMTA enables the running of the massive Gimson beam engines.
All money raised by the LMTA from its events, donations from the public and sponsorship is used to support the work and collections at Abbey Pumping Station. They are a registered charity with number 1052391.
The Abbey Pumping Station also has a trust to support major projects, The Friends of the Museum of Technology in the City of Leicester, for further details please email us.
