Video: Vintage Toyshop Tour of Newarke Houses

Leicester Museums & Galleries recently welcomed the Leicester Vintage and Old Toyshop to film at Newarke Houses for their latest episode of Toy Shop on Tour - Raiders of the Lost Archive...

In this episode the Toy Shop discuss some of the classic toys they found in the museum's permanent toy galleries and in the special summer exhibition Play Time, which celebrates 150 years of children's play with toys, dolls, and teddies on display from the museum’s extensive collection.

It also includes a special look behind the scenes at toys preserved in the museum stores. Watch this video to see what toy treasures they discovered, and what this tells us about Leicester's manufacturing and retail heritage:

 

 

The Play Time exhibition is free entry and open daily throughout the summer, at Newarke Houses.
