Can you guess what’s missing?

These postcards from Leicester Museums & Galleries have been sent to every Leicester city primary school this week, one for each child. The aim is to encourage families to come and explore Leicester Museums & Galleries to enjoy all we have to offer for families, mostly for free.

We hope children will visit to find out if they guessed right about what was missing from our picture of William Hogarth’s ‘The Wollaston Family’. Come and find this painting in the Victorian Gallery at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.

If your child received a postcard they can enter our free prize draw to win a curriculum enrichment session for their class. Just pop some details on your postcard and drop it in at reception when you visit. Prize draw closes on Sunday 7 January 2024.

Prize draw terms and conditions

• The promoter is Leicester City Council, City Hall, 115 Charles Street, Leicester LE1 1FZ.
• The prize draw is open to children attending Leicester local authority-maintained, academy and voluntary aided primary, junior and infant schools. Entry is by submitting a postcard in person to one of our museums.
• The prize is a free Curriculum Enrichment Session for one class of up to 35 children at one of our museum sites. No cash or other alternatives will be offered.
• There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter the prize draw.
• Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.
• Closing date for entry is Sunday 7 January 2024. After this date no further entries to the prize draw will be permitted.
• No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
• The promoter will liaise with the winning school on arrangements for a suitable workshop and date from those available. Transport is not provided. The winner must agree to reasonable promotion and marketing activity around the workshop, and school photo consents must be agreed. The workshop must be booked before the end of the 2023/24 academic year.
• The prize is not transferable.
• The winner will be chosen at random from all entries received and verified by the Promoter and or its agents. The winning school and year group will be published on this website.
• The winning school will be notified by email or phone within 28 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or is unable to take up the prize, for whatever reason, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
• The Promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
