This plastic bag is a contemporary object collected as part of Leicester Museums & Galleries’ Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation-funded project Popping to the Shops. This project focuses on Narborough Road (one of the main roads into the city of Leicester) and aims to give a snapshot of people and businesses in the area.

Objects have been collected from some of the shops along the road, and two exhibitions are being held – at Newarke Houses Museum and Westcotes Library. The exhibitions run from 25th January 2024 to April 2024.

The Object of the Month can be seen in person throughout February at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.
