Object Name
'Untitled, Three Ceramic Forms', reduced stoneware, 1975-77
By Graham Burr (1929-2003)
This sculpture has long been a favourite of mine since coming across it in the store many years ago. The three forms were arranged in a line on the shelf making it reminiscent of the Loch Ness Monster, so ever since the sculpture has affectionately been known as ‘Nessie’ between myself and colleagues.
The cloud imagery is seen in other sculptures by Graham Burr, including in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, but no others that I have seen have the same appealing formation.
Purchased from Graham Burr with funding assistance from the Crafts Advisory Committee and the Leicestershire County Council Arts Fund.
