Museum Collections on Tour

Published: 23 September 2021

There have been lots of comings and goings with object loans recently as items that we have loaned out have returned and new exhibitions are about to begin and so items have been going out.

The Three Clowns by Dame Laura Knight has been really popular lately, and has just returned from the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle, before heading off to the MK Gallery at Milton Keynes for an exhibition that starts there next month: Laura Knight: A Panoramic View. It will then tour to Nottingham Castle in the new year.

We’ve also loaned three works by Walter Sickert to National Museums Liverpool for their new Sickert show at the Walker Art Gallery, which has been receiving some great reviews: Sickert: A Life in Art review – master of malevolence goes for the jugular.

More locally, we’ve collaborated with artist Ben Judd for his exhibition at the Leicester Gallery at De Montfort University. Items from different collections were selected by him over the course of a series of visits to our museum stores, including costume, social history and archaeology.
