Foundation Stones Digital Exhibition
Published: 14 September 2020
To mark Refugee Week 2020 and Holocaust Memorial Day 2021 Leicester Museums & Galleries asked members of the public to decorate a stone to remember those who have lost their lives in the Holocaust, in more recent genocides or in trying to seek sanctuary from war and conflict.
Ordinary stones from people’s gardens or local parks have been transformed with moving images and messages of remembrance and hope for the future.
This exhibition of images is presented as a short film. The ‘foundation stones’ are an uplifting celebration of humanity and a call for a future free from all forms of prejudice, discrimination and hatred - a future of peace, unity and acceptance for everyone.
You can take part in the Foundation Stones project and contribute to the new UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre. To find out more visit the Big Ideas website.
