Description:
Have you ever wished you could see back in time? Fossils are tiny pieces of a jigsaw puzzle showing what our world looked like long before humans even existed. The picture is far from complete: new fossils are discovered all the time and each one tells us something new. By interacting with original and replica fossils, as well as some of the tools used to uncover them, children can explore what it might be like to uncover these time capsules and gain an insight into how scientists unlock their secrets.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop an awareness of the origins and variety of fossils including comparing and contrasting them with other geological specimens like rocks and minerals.
- Recognise that living things have changed over time and that fossils provide information about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago.
- Develop an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through scientific enquiries rooted in heritage science and other fields.
