Our friendly and knowledgeable team are here to help you plan your visit and access our online resources so that you get the right level of information for your learning stage.
We have lots of different ways for you to engage including inspirational Curriculum Enrichment Activities which focus on our permanent collections and self-guided resources such as discussion cards and activity sheets. Abbey Pumping Station
Abbey Pumping Station is open exclusively to SCHOOL VISITS ONLY at the following times:
Autumn term 2025/26
- Mon 17th – Fri 21st Nov 2025
- Mon 24th – Fri 28th Nov 2025
Summer term 2025/26
- Mon 8th - Fri 12th June 2026
- Mon 15th – Fri 19th June 2026
Schools will be able to book learning visits to the Museum during these weeks, but the site will not be open to the public. The Museum shop will not be open, but goody bags can be ordered at £3 per bag for collection on the day.
This is a great opportunity for school classes to have the museum all to themselves. We also offer our curriculum linked Big Water workshop at Abbey Pumping Station.

Newarke Houses
Newarke Houses Museum is open exclusively to SCHOOL VISITS ONLY at the following weeks:
