Character and Colour - The Stained Glass of Theodora Salusbury

'Character and Colour' - The Stained Glass of Theodora Salusbury 1875-1956

By Geogina Maltby and Andrew Loutit

Miss Theodora Salusbury was by nature an artist and craftswoman in the Arts and Crafts style. Having trained with some of the best artists in the field, she went on to create most of her windows between the two World Wars. These were to be found in nearly thirty churches in England and Wales, many of them in Leicestershire.

The impact of her windows comes through her use of brilliant colour and her skilled representation of the figures she portrayed. Most of her work bears her signature, a peacock.

The talk, richly illustrated, will be given by Andrew Loutit and Georgina Maltby, authors of a recent book about Theodora Salusbury.

Tickets £4.50 per person.
