The First World War was the first ‘Total war’ involving those at the ‘home Front’ alongside the armed forces. How did society change to answer the challenges of conflict and how did Leicester participate in the war effort through its key industries of clothing and engineering and keep up morale.
The talk, given by Leicester historian, Philip French. will use contemporary newspapers to give an insight into a fascinating part of our history.
