Event Description

An International Women's Day event about the men who fought for Leicester's Suffragettes

Partners in Revolt. The Men Who Fought For Leicester's Suffragettes

In commemoration of International Women's Day:

Leicester Guildhall is proud to present local historian Jess Jenkin's talk on

Partners in Revolt - The Men Who Fought For Leicester's Suffragettes

The popular image of the times, encouraged by comic postcards, was that the husbands of suffragettes faced chaos, neglect and worse still - disruption of their domestic routines. The truth was far from this. Many men supported their wives in the struggle. This talk looks at the husbands of three local women who endured violence, serious injury and even imprisonment in order to help win women the vote.

Tickets: £4.50 per person

In aid of International Women's Day, Leicester Guildhall is working in partnership with Walk Leicester for a series of Discovery Walks.
