Nature on Your Doorstep
Published: 5 July 2021
Organised by Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, Nature on Your Doorstep features photographs of wildlife taken by the public going out for daily walks during the 2020 and 2021 lockdown periods.
It celebrates the positive relationship between humans and the natural world that many have experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. With less time spent on commuting, dining out or shopping in-store, many took the chance to slow down and enjoy the natural world. In parks and open spaces, people have observed the birds in the sky, the leaves on the trees, and the insects on the ground.

We hope you agree that the images show the beauty, the majesty and the abundance of the flora and fauna that surrounds us.
The invitation to submit to this display was open to photographers of all ages and abilities and attracted over 600 images from across the East Midlands. We also had submissions from further afield in England and beyond.
Nature on Your Doorstep is on display from 5th July – 30th August 2021 at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery. It is on show alongside the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
