Leicester Society of Artists – Meet the Artist

As part of the LSA Annual Exhibition 2021 (7-31 October) members of Leicester Society of Artists will be at the museum every Saturday afternoon in October where you can talk to them about their work and ask questions about the exhibition.

Meet the Artist: Vishal Joshi

"My work is an exploration of identity," says Vishal Joshi. "I am interested in the factors that makes us who we are, those that we choose and those that we do not. I question societal norms, labels and rules; humanity itself is a big influence within my work. Painting is the tool that enables me to speak my mind. I aim to remain experimental with concepts, mediums and techniques but I stand true to what engages me – mark making, technical ability and a deep conceptual and philosophical vision. This diptych is a part of a series where I am exploring reflective and transparent surfaces to convey ideas about our environment and the impact it bears on us."

Meet the Artist: Linda Sharman

"I paint a lot from memory every day places, people, the feel, atmosphere, colour and light," says Linda Sharman. "In this painting I am trying to capture the mystery and ambiance of beautiful Venice. Starting by layering colours, then picking out figures, form and light to set the scene, having a memory or picture in mind."

Free event

No tickets are required for your visit. The museum can only allow a certain number of visitors in at a time, which may result in a socially distance queue before gaining entry.
