Event Description
Exhibition highlighting some of the hidden gems from the Museum's geology collection
A group of volunteers have been working alongside the Museum's Collections Team to study and record thousands of rocks, fossils, and minerals at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery. This is part of our constant behind-the-scenes work which ensures that the geology collection is properly documented.
Five of these volunteers have chosen their favourite specimens from the project and have written about them in their own words. Their favourites include pink barite, a triassic bone bed and a Neolithic axe and arrow heads. Can you find all six of the cases located around the museum containing our volunteers' Hidden Gems?
Wednesday 24th October: Explore the Hidden Gems
Follow the trail to find the specially selected Geology specimens around the museum, handle some of the collection, see our 3D printer in action as well as enjoy dinosaur colouring and activity sheets.
