A talk by Peter Barratt and Ruth Pownall in celebration of International Women’s Day
For International Women’s Day 2022, great grandson Peter Barratt and actress Ruth Pownall reprise their Edinburgh Fringe spoken word show on local suffragette Alice Hawkins.
A stirring account of her hard-fought campaign for women’s right over a 100 years ago. Illustrated throughout by the suffrage collection still with her descendants, including Alice’s sash, hunger strike medal and more. A procession to Alice’s statue will follow.
