How to get here
We encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport to visit our museum venues when possible. All text directions below start at The Clock Tower in Leicester City Centre.

Walking
11 minutes walk - With the Clock Tower to your back, walk in the direction of the Sporting Success statue next to HSBC. Pass HSBC on your left and continue walking up Gallowtree Gate towards the grand NatWest building. Pass the Visit Leicester Information Centre on your right then turn right onto Horsefair Street and pass the fountains of Town Hall Square. Continue straight onto Millstone Lane until you reach Vaughan Way. Use the pedestrian crossing on your right to reach the De Montfort University campus. From the crossing, turn left then right to enter the campus then head towards the muralled building, which is Newarke Houses.
Cycling
6 mins cycle - Starting from the Clock Tower, cycle along Gallowtree Gate. Continue on to Granby Street using the contraflow cycle track then take the right turn on to Belvoir Street. Cycle along Belvoir Street until you reach Belvoir Place. Use the crossings to join Newarke Street and cycle along the segregated cycle track until the Magazine crossing. Use the crossing to reach the De Montfort University Campus. Pass the Magazine and bear right where you will find Newarke Houses across The Newarke.

Driving
Follow signs for Leicester City Centre. There are a number of car parks located within a 10 minute walk of the museum. The nearest are located on Upper Brown St, use post code LE1 5AG for Sat Navs and post code LE2 7AD for Newarke St car park.

1 minute walk - The Magazine. Available to visit, along with Leicester Castle’s great hall, on the last Sunday of each month.
3 minute walk – Castle Gardens. A quaint park beside the river featuring blooming trees, gardens, picnic areas & walking paths.
5 minute walk - De Montfort University. As well as the Heritage Centre, the campus offers a modern, inspiring environment for students in the city.
