General FAQs
Is it free to get in? Yes, Leicester Museum & Art Gallery is free for general entry, however we do suggest a small £3 donation.
Is there parking? Yes, there are limited number of spaces available in the museum car park. For Sat Nav directions to access our car park, please use: Princess Road West, LE1 6TR (via West Street)
Do I need to register vehicle details? No, There is no need to register vehicle details, but please be aware the car park is monitored regularly by museum staff and CCTV and vehicles are parked at visitors own risk.
Car park gates are locked when the museum closes.
Where can I store coats, bags and other belongings? Visitor Lockers are available in the entrance hall, behind the grand staircase. Lockers cost £1 each (coins only). We have no facility to store large luggage items.
All items left unattended or left in lockers after the museum closes, will be removed in line with the museum security standards.
Is there anywhere to park or store a pushchair? The museum does not have a dedicated pushchair / buggy storage, however the museum can offer limited space within the main foyer subject to available space at the time of your visit - please ask at reception for further guidance. All items are left at visitor’s risk and we advise to carry all valuable belongings or make use of visitor lockers. The museum has level access for pushchair use in all galleries, and a lift to access the first floor.
Is there anywhere to secure bicycles / scooters? The museum has limited cycle rack facility within the museum car park for visitors to securely lock their cycles & scooters. Cycles and scooters are not permitted within the museum. Some scooters may be able to be locked in visitor lockers subject to dimensions of the scooter model.
Is there anywhere I can sit and eat my lunch? There is an area with tables and chairs where visitors can eat their own food or purchase something from the vending machines. Bench seating is also available in the museum entrance hall. During good weather visitors are also welcome to make use of outdoor seating and there are plenty of benches on Museum Square park next to the museum. Food and drink consumption is not permitted in the museum's public galleries.
