General FAQs

Is it free to get in? Yes Leicester Guildhall is free for general entry, however we do suggest a small £2 donation.

Is there parking? Unfortunately there is no parking at the Guildhall, however there are several car parks within a 5 - 10 minute walk. See the  'where to park' page on the Leicester City Council website for more information.

Can you take photographs? Yes you can for personal use. For commercial photography please contact us.

Are there tours of the building? We usually offer free tours every Thursday, please check our What's On calendar to see availability.

Is this where King Richard III was buried? The King Richard III Visitor Centre is opposite Leicester Guildhall Museum. If you are in the area it's a great opportunity to visit 3 fascinating, historical buildings: King Richard III Visitor Centre, Leicester Cathedral and Leicester Guildhall.

Is Leicester Guildhall Haunted? There have been many investigations and stories of the building being haunted, you can find out for yourself by booking onto one of the regular ghost vigils held in the building. Ghost vigils at Leicester Guildhall are organised by external professional paranormal groups. See our What's On calendar to see availability.

How do I purchase tickets for performances? Tickets are now available to purchase online on our What's On section, in person at Leicester Guildhall or by telephone: 0116 253 2569.

Can I hire Leicester Guildhall for music and theatre productions? Yes there are various packages and options please send us an email.

Can I have my wedding reception at Leicester Guildhall? Unfortunately, we do not hold wedding receptions, we offer a 1 hour drinks reception. There are several beautiful venues in very close proximity that offer wedding receptions.

How can I make a compliment, comment or complaint? Visitors are welcome to make their comments directly with museum staff, who will attempt to address your query themselves or pass on your message to relevant museum colleagues. We always welcome your feedback so visitors are also welcome to send their comments by email or on the Leicester Museums & Galleries Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
